Maggie May

I was paid off at the pool,
On the board at Liverpool,
Three pound ten a week that was me pay.
With a pocket full of brass
I was looking for a bit of ass
When down the street came Maggie May.

Oh, Maggie, Maggie May,
They have taken her away,
She'll never walk down Lime Street any more.
The Judge he guilty found her,
For robbing a homeward bounder,
That dirty robbing no-good Maggie May.

Now, the first time I was Maggie
when I first met Maggie May
she was cruising up and down Canning Place.
She'd a figure so divine,
Her voice was so refined --
Being just a sailor, I gave chase.

Well, in the morning I awoke,
I was flat, stony broke.
No jacket, trousers, waistcoat could I find,
When I asked her where they were,
She said, "My very good sir,
They're down in Kelly's pawnshop, number 9."

Oh, to the pawnshop I did go,
No clothes there did I find,
And the police came and took that girl away from me,
Well, the judge he guilty found her,
Of robbing homeward-bounder,
Oh, you dirty robbing no good Maggie May.

Now, when I slid it in to her
I caught the clap and gonorrhea
Cruising up on and down on Cannon Place.
She was dress so clean and fine
That I put it on the line.

Gather round, you sailor boys, now you heard my plea,
When you've heard it you'll pity me;
Get mixed up with a bird like this
And ever even get a kiss.
