Down Trou'

When you're alone and there's a crowd all around and you want a friend;
Down Trou'.
Stand on a table with your pants round your ankles and you'll start a trend;
Down Trou'.
Your loneliness will vanish in a flood of fellow feeling,
And all around the bar-room you will see the boys all peeling,
Inhibitions laid bare.
Somehow all your cares will go,
This is the way to meet people,
That you didn't know when you –

Down Trou';
Things will be great when you –
Down Trou';
Shocks all the natives and –
Down Trou';
You'll perform better that way.

Gimme a dare, just say the word and I'm there, it's all such naughty fun;
Down Trou';
I can't stand still and I just can't wait until we get our belts undone;
Down Trou';
Oh why do they condemn it in the older generation?
It's seems as though they're suffering from moral constipation,
Man it's no sin.
Things swing as we show our knees,
With our balls hanging out,
Just enjoying the breeze, as we –

Down Trou';
There's nothing just like it –
Down Trou';
Six o'clock sunset strip –
Down Trou'
Fresh air is good for your skin.

Down Trou', down trou', down trou'….

Song Notes:  The tunes is 'Downtown'. Words composed by Dave Jordan (mid 1960s?). Note zipper sound effects. "Six o'clock strip" is a reference to six o'clock closing - up till 1967, bars and pubs in New Zealand had to close by 6pm. "Doing a down trou" is a particular NZ pub ritual – for instance, if you lose a game of pool without sinking a single ball, you generally have to "down trou" and make a circuit of the pool table.
