If you have a toast or suggestion, please feel free to send me an email at .  If there is a book that you know of that is not listed in my bibliography, please inform me.  I am interested in corresponding with anyone who has a interest in collecting toasts.  If you know or have any early bawdy songsters or Merry Muses that may have erotic toasts in them please contact me.

Most of these toasts were culled from the books in the bibliography.  Other's were retrieved from songs and broadsides whereas some are unique to the postcards that were published between 1900 - 1920.

I am particularly interesting in meeting people who collect rare erotic toasts who wouldn't mind helping me.  I have started a bibliography useful for research into bawdy songs, toasts & other doggerel.

Research projects:

1. When was a sentiment with a raised glass first called a "toast".  Probable time 1620's.  (I need to check the OED2 & forthcoming OED3.

2. Find the earliest image of people with raised glasses touching one another.   What is the history of the "Chinking" of glasses?

3. What is the geographical distribution of toasting?  Chinking glasses?
