THE ARMY AIR CORPS (1st. Chorus) Off we go into the wild blue yonder, Climbing high into the sun; Here they come zooming to meet our thunder, At'em boys, give'er the gun! (Give'er Tne Gun!) Now, down we dive spouting our flame from under, Off with one helluva roar! We live in fame or go down in flame; Hey! Nothing'11 stop the Army Air Corps! (Verse) Here's a Toast to the host of those who love the vastness of the sky; To a friend we send a message of his brother men who fly. We drink to those who gave their all of old, Then down we roar to score the rainbow's pot of gold. A Toast to the host of men we boast, the Army Air Corps. Clear! Clear! Contact! Contact! Grr----r Zoom! (2nd. Chorus) Minds of men fashioned a crate of thunder, Sent it high into the blue; Hands of men blasted the world asunder; How they lived God only knew! Souls of men dreaming of skies to conquer, Gave us wings ever to soar. With scouts before and bombers galore, Hey! Nothing'11 stop the Army Air Corps! - 1 - J

THE SPIRIT OF KEARNS We are marching and singing together, All for Camp Kearns the 5th BTC. Here's a cheer for our buddies in basic, They're the pride of the whole TTC. THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT A SOLDIER (Verse) When they march down the street, People stand on your feet, They love to see a soldier; Tho' they jump on your chest, You fall in with the rest, You want to see a soldier; You will run half a mile, But it's well worth your while, Because somebody has told ya; That in the Palace Yard you'll see the changing of the guard, Oh, how you run to see a soldier. (Chorus) Because there's something about a soldier, something about a soldier, Something about a soldier that is fine, fine, fine; He may be a great big Gen'ral, may be a Sergeant Major, May be a simple private of the line, line, line; But there's something about his bearing, something in what he's wearing, Something about his buttons all a-shine, shine, shiae; Oh, a military chest seems to suit the ladies best, There's something about a soldier that is fine, fine, fine, - 3 -

WORKING ON THE RAILROAD I've been working on the railroad, All the live-long day; I've been working on the railroad, Just to pass the time away, Can't you hear the whistle blowing Rise up so early in the morn, Can't you hear the Captain shouting Dinah, blow your horn. PACK OP YOUR TROUBLES Pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag, And smile, smile, smile, While you've a lucifer to light your fag, Smile, boys, that's the style. What's the use of worrying? It never was worth while, So, pack up your troubles in your old kit-bag, And smile, smile, smile! Wrap both your elbows up around your neck, And scratch, scratch, scratch. Don't stop a second - if you do, by heck, Your troubles start to hatch. What's the use of sulphur salve? It never was worth much; So, wrap both your elbows up around your neck, And scratch, scratch, scratch. WAIT 'TILL THE SUN SHINES, NELLIE Wait 'till the sun shines, Nellie, When the clouds go drifting by, We will be happy Nellie, don't you sigh; Down lovers' lane we'll wander, Sweethearts you and I, Wait 'till the sun shines Nellie, Bye and bye. - 11 -
THIS.IS THE ARMY, MISTER JONES This is the Army, Mister Jones. No private rooms or telephones. You had your breakfast in bed before, But you won't have it there any more. They're in the Army and not in a band. This is the Army, Mister Brown. You and your baby went to town. She had you worried, but this is war, And she won't worry you any more. ROLL OUT THE BARREL Roll out the barrel, we'll have a barrel of fun; Roll out the barrel, we've got the blues on the run. Zing! Boom! Ta-rar-rel! STAR SPANGLED BANNER WAVING SOMEWHERE There's a Star Spangled Banner waving somewhere, In a distant land so many miles away; Only Uncle Sam's great heroes get to go there, Where I wish that I could also live some day. I'd see Lincoln, Custer, Washington and Perry, And Nathan Hale and Colin Kelly too. There's a Star Spangled Banner waving somewhere, Waving o'er the land of heroes brave and true. In this war with its mad schemes of destruction, Of our country fair and our sweet liberty; By the mad dictator, leaders of corruption, Can't the U. S. use a mountain boy like me? God gave me the right to be a free American And for that precious right I'd gladly die. There's a Star Spangled Banner waving somewhere, That is where I want to live when I die. Tho' I realize I haven't had much schooling, Just to be a U. S. soldier would be swell; There's been many a great hero from the mountains, Sergeant York was one and he did mighty well. If I do some great deed I will be a hero, And a hero brave is what I want to be. There's a Star Spangled Banner waving somewhere, In that heaven there should be a place for me. - 13

SMILES There are smiles that make us happy; There are smiles that make us blue; There are smiles that steal away the teardrops, As the sunbeams steal away the dew. THE MARINES' HYMN From the Halls of Montezuma To the shores of Tripoli, We fight our country's battles On the land as on the sea. First to fight for right and freedom And to keep our honor clean, We are proud to claim the title Of United States Marine. Our flag's unfurled to every breeze From dawn to setting sun. We have fought in every clime and place Where we could take a gun. In the snow of far off Northern lands And in sunny Tropic scenes You will find us always on the job----- The United States Marines. Here's health to you and to our Corps Which we are proud to serve. In many a strife we've fought for life And never lost our nerve. If the Army and the Navy Ever look on Heaven's scenes They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines. - 21 -
WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? (1st. Verse) Paddy Mack drove a hack Up and down Broadway, Pat had one expression And he'd use it ev'ry day; Any time he'd grab a fare, To take them for a ride, Paddy jumped upon the seat, Cracked his whip, and cried: (Chorus) "Oh, where do we go from here, boys, Where do we go from here?" Anywhere from Harlem to a Jersey City pier. When Pat would spy a pretty girl, He'd whisper in her ear, "Oh, Joy! Oh, Boy! Where do we go from here?" (2nd Verse) One fine day on Broadway, Pat was driving fast, When the street was blown to pieces By a subway blast; Down the hole poor Paddy went, A'thinkin' of his past, Then he says, says he, "I think these words will be my last: " (continued on next page) - 22 -

AMERICA, THE BEAUTIFUL Oh beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain. America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood, From sea to shining sea! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood, From sea to shining sea! - 31
THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER Oh, say! Can you see by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous figiit, O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming? And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof thru the night that our flag was still there. Oh, say, does that Star Spangled Banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore, dimly seen thru the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines on the stream; 'Tis the Star Spangled Banner; Oh, long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! - 32 -
