songs in this coding are used within the services to instruct recruits, and as a reminder to long service soldiers, in specific attributes of their military trade, to overcome, create an awareness of problems at the civil – military interface, to illuminate and illustrate professional standards, to inculcate institutional virtues and instill motivation.
 chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, us dod, has written and commented to me while in that office, that all the songs in my collection are 'motivational'.
