Subject: RE: Chord Req: Rising for the Moon by Fairport From: GUEST,yorky1000 Date: 17 Apr 16 - 03:46 PM Thanks. I have done that and keep ending up with Riff Station and the chords seem to start in advance of the playing of the tune which just blows out of the water my limited musical knowledge. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Rising for the Moon by Fairport From: michaelr Date: 17 Apr 16 - 07:03 PM This video is pretty clear. The song is in D. Chords are D, G, A, Em, and perhaps a Bm in the chorus. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Rising for the Moon by Fairport From: GUEST Date: 18 Apr 16 - 05:13 AM Thank you - most helpful. As a relatively new singer - the mechanics of music sometimes escape me completely. I can get away with a capella but doing harmonies with another person and with guitar accompaniment is taxing the brain somewhat. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Rising for the Moon by Fairport From: leeneia Date: 18 Apr 16 - 05:57 PM Take a look at this page. https://chordify.net/chords/fairport-convention-rising-for-the-moon-2010-alrunerod2811 I played a chord along with it, and it was the right one - a D. That's a good sign. I'm pretty sure there are chords there that can safely be skipped, esp in the middle of a measure. I followed along at the Riff Station page you mentioned, and I thought to myself, "Even if this is correct, it isn't helpful." So don't feel bad about that page. |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Rising for the Moon by Fairport From: GUEST Date: 19 Apr 16 - 04:04 AM Jack Campin asked 'Did they really call it "Rising for the Moon"?' Yes Jack - Sandy's song is about the nocturnal life of a traveling musician. I'm not sure I find the poetic approach she takes that appealing, but I think she conveys her meaning well enough. |
