Subject: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: JHW Date: 28 Feb 16 - 05:54 AM Just bought a new Panasonic DMC-TZ70 camera to replace the Fuji I lost on a walk. Having rewalked fields and stiles twice and not spotted it I wasn't going to take another Black case for the new one but I'm surprised at the rarity of High Visibility cases. Found one on a US site (remembering US cats who might advise) in Bright Pink leather which looks a strong case and would be ideal but their website won't let me 'join' and that prohibits an order or any communication with them. I created a mudlink but it came up not found at their server so they really are a bunch of souls. Called Aliexpress. Can't find one anywhere else and this looks perfect. Any ideas please? |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: Les from Hull Date: 28 Feb 16 - 11:04 AM As they offer free shipping perhaps you need to be in the United States. Maybe some United Statian can help you out, otherwise I notice that in the UK Argos do a pink 'Un. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: GUEST Date: 28 Feb 16 - 12:16 PM If you have no objection to Amazon as simple search of "camera case tz70" brings up some 840 results, several of which look to match your requirements. Pink seems surprisingly popular, but there are several alternatives. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: gillymor Date: 28 Feb 16 - 12:29 PM There are a number of hi-viz reflective tapes on the market. You might be able to apply some between the various pockets of a dark bag, at least as temporary measure. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: leeneia Date: 29 Feb 16 - 10:49 AM When I want to make something high visibility, I put hot-pink duct tape on it. Except for my car, which has to park on a narrow street. I put sparkling rainbow tape (from the auto parts store) on its fenders, so they twinkle in the headlights of oncoming cars at night. JHW, you would probably save time and money doing something like that. Also, hot pink duct tape on a guitar pick makes it easier to find when dropped. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: JHW Date: 01 Mar 16 - 05:48 AM Thanks to all for help and suggestions. Might go with tape. The pink leather one I found looks a very strong case. Have found similar on a uk site eanfind but when I try to order an Amazon box dives in and confounds the page! Looking like tape. Sadly the perfect product is out there but only on screen. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: GUEST Date: 02 Mar 16 - 12:19 AM I'd just buy a cheap small size/childs yellow hi viz sleeveless vest, thread the strap through the armholes either side, and wrap it over the case. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: Mr Red Date: 02 Mar 16 - 03:14 AM Just a little thought but I once lost my mobile phone and being an engineer thought there must be a way to solve the problem. There is: I made (in red) a long lanyard and wear it round my neck, the phone goes in the bumbag or pocket. There is a quick-release catch but I don't use it. Haven't lost a phone since. Lost a few lanyards ............ to wear and tear. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: Joe Offer Date: 02 Mar 16 - 03:24 AM I dunno. I like the idea of high visibility, but I just can't bring myself to carry a hot pink camera case.... |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: JHW Date: 02 Mar 16 - 04:53 AM Thanks again. The camera (in its case) goes in the day walk rucksack, not carried about. I chose pink as being the most unnatural colour so as to be conspicuous in countryside. Lost the old camera by its escaping unknown from said rucksack and couldn't find when I retraced a mile or so of fields and back again. Like Mr Red's idea I could maybe lanyard camera case to rucksack. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: Rapparee Date: 02 Mar 16 - 01:34 PM Amazon US has some in orange and yellow. You might also try putting high visibility tape on a regular one (I put glow in the dark tape from Amazon on many things, especially flashlights). |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: GUEST Date: 02 Mar 16 - 02:53 PM There are probably very affordable mini battery powered GPS tracking transmitters, with locating apps for smart phones, which can be easily slipped inside a bag you don't want to lose in the great outdoors. fairly certain of this - worth a quick google |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: Mr Red Date: 03 Mar 16 - 04:10 AM I bought a blue tooth kiddy-wander alarm for my rucksack - cheap and anything but cheerful. Batteries ran out too quickly and the range was anything but Bluetooth. Your GPS enabled device would require quite a transmitter or have a SIM card and telephone number. And there still is the battery. The Bluetooth solution is a good one, if you pay enough for it. Of course the camera (or whatever eg rucksack content) has to be in the same container as the transmitter. But it will remind you when the Bluetooth devices are out of range. I bet there are models with smart phone apps. But how attached is the phone? Modern smart phones done have lanyard loops!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: Rapparee Date: 03 Mar 16 - 11:44 AM Also, how large is the camera? Does the case need to contain additional lenses, etc.? |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: GUEST Date: 03 Mar 16 - 11:55 AM Pack one of your most well worn dirtiest pairs of underpants in your camera bag and buy a good sniffer dog to accompany you on off road hikes. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hi vis Camera Case reqd From: JHW Date: 06 Mar 16 - 05:03 AM This is difficult! I found a good case (just for the camera) again, on BuyCameraBags but can't buy as an Amazon intruder gazumps page. Emailed and writ paper and envelope letter but no answer yet. I did consider the remote baby alarm for the guitar, ie base unit with me and baby bit with guitar case to warn me if guitar left the venue without me. Ref Joe's apprehension of Pink case here's a pic of me in my best frock with bright blue handbag. Second row - last pic on right NB Only wear frock for Mummers Plays. |
