Subject: BS: Tenneva Ramblers (tracks out there)? From: GUEST,Kegan Mahon Date: 08 Jan 16 - 12:23 AM I heard "Darlin', Where You Been So Long?" on YouTube tonight, which brought this to mind. However, the song only appears as an MP3 issue on Amazon - I could've SWORN I had it on CD awhile ago, but no issue seems to exist. I'm aware of the few tracks available on the 2011 issue of THE BRISTOL SESSIONS from Bear Family, I *thought* that the Ramblers were included in my Jimmie Rodgers 'Singing Brakeman' boxset, but they're not. Can anyone clear this up for me, please? Thanks. |

Subject: RE: Tenneva Ramblers (tracks out there)? From: Joe Offer Date: 08 Jan 16 - 06:46 AM I moved the thread to the music section, where it certainly belongs. I'm not understanding the whole story of the Tenneva Ramblers. This Wikipedia Article on the Bristol Sessions says that Jimmie Rodgers left the band, which apparently had a different name. The band then recorded a few cuts in 1927 under the name "Tenneva Ramblers." YouTube has a nice selection of Tenneva Ramblers cuts. Can somebody explain this more clearly? Where'd the band name come from? What happened to them after 1927? -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Tenneva Ramblers (tracks out there)? From: GUEST,Hootenanny Date: 08 Jan 16 - 09:38 AM The Tenneva Ramblers so named because they lived in the Tennessee/Virginia Area. They got together only a few weeks before the Bristol sessions of 1927. They teamed up with Rogers and then split over choice of name for the group on record. More information is in the excellent Ralph Peer Biography by Barry Mazor. I believe that Bear Family issued a box set of the complete Bristol Sessions which would include the track(s) sought by the OP. |
