Subject: Review: Flatpackedbongoband From: Philbert Digby Date: 12 Dec 15 - 11:32 AM Hi all Mudcatters? I have some songs up on SoundCloud. com Under the name flatpackedbongoband Could somebody give me some feedback and opinions on if it falls into the folk category,I'm having troubles defining my own music. I hope this isn't taken to be spamming, that's certainly not my intention. Thanks for having me aboard. Philbert Digby |

Subject: RE: Review: Flatpackedbongoband From: GUEST Date: 12 Dec 15 - 12:20 PM Best not to define it. Enough clowns on here ready to rattle on about 1954 or oral tradition if you dare to call anything other than their narrow interpretation folk. A word to the wise. Do a link (link maker at bottom of this page) because the senior citizens can't search and some of the rest of us are lazy. Love the name by the way. |

Subject: RE: Review: Flatpackedbongoband From: Philbert Digby Date: 12 Dec 15 - 01:00 PM Thanks for the advice GUEST.I am curious to know if my music fits into folk whether it be trad,or not. I don't know how to create links so it may stay there lost in the .com ether. No biggy. |

Subject: RE: Review: Flatpackedbongoband From: Joe Offer Date: 12 Dec 15 - 07:36 PM Hi, Philbert. I'd agree with Guest. If you get tied to categories, you'll be dragged screaming down the Purple Path. Certainly sounds to me like it's within the broadly-defined folk genre, but perhaps not according to the infamous 1954 definition. Here's a link: I'm listening to the first cut now. I'm a singer, so I have to say it's not my cup of tea, but it's nice. Wish I could play guitar like that. Few of us really fit the 1954 definition, anyhow. Most of us are fairly eclectic, I'd say. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Review: Flatpackedbongoband From: Philbert Digby Date: 12 Dec 15 - 07:45 PM Thanks for the praise Joe Singing is not my strong point,I'm more confident about my playing. I made one video which I was amazed and proud to call mine but it may have been lost to history by now. I wonder... I'm using a tablet for my internet and it doesn't seem to want me to create a link. The app I use doesn't display my URL. Update is needed to my SoundCloud profile as I've said farewell to Mary Jane. So thanks again Joe for the honesty and help, much appreciated goodman. |
