Subject: Lyr Add: CINDY DREAMS OF CALIFORNIA (Bob Gibson) From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 09 Dec 15 - 04:57 AM Cindy Dreams of California (Bob Gibson) Snowdrifts rise outside my window. I sit and wonder, "Where did spring go?" I can tell from her face, She needs a warmer place. Busy people, they surround her. Never smiling, they astound her. Busy runnin' their race, She needs a slower pace. Cindy dreams of California, Rollin' hills and gentle skies. Cindy dreams of windswept oceans, Quiet places, other faces Rise from the depth of her memory And shine through her eyes. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cindy Dreams of California (Bob Gibson) From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 10 Dec 15 - 01:15 AM Oops, sorry for that. Gibson and Silverstein surely did do a lot of collaboration those days. I think mainly Gibson did the melody and Silverstein the words. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cindy Dreams of California (Bob Gibson) From: GUEST,# Date: 10 Dec 15 - 09:14 AM Sorry I didn't put my # in the last post. I spent a couple of days with Bob back in the 1960s and he could write melodies like ya wouldn't believe. His lyrics were not all that strong (IMO). Never met Shel, but what a lyricist he was. Bob showed me a tuning for his 12 he was working on. I now wish I'd written it down. Each individual string was tuned differently and he was getting great sound from the guitar. Anyway, good to see you back again. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cindy Dreams of California (Bob Gibson) From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 10 Dec 15 - 10:45 AM Thanks for the story! It's really unbelievable that each string of the 12 could be tuned differently and still sounds great... I don't have a 12-string myself; wish I had one! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Cindy Dreams of California (Bob Gibson) From: GUEST,# Date: 10 Dec 15 - 11:57 AM It was a new tuning he was working on. He played the 12 like no one else ever has. And, he was a nice guy. But come to think of it, I think he retuned 8 of the 12 strings and must have left two pairs the same--I'd guess the trebles--because he'd need a drone effect in there. Old age and memory, ya know? :-) |

Subject: RE: Chords: Cindy Dreams of California (Bob Gibson From: GUEST,Boot Leg Date: 01 Jun 16 - 11:34 AM Jason, I think the last time Bob played not "C - G/B - A - E" but
A video of Bob performing the song is at https://youtu.be/yiAB5GLPW7c. Will have to listen a bit more. This is always one of my favorite Bob Gibson songs. I'll do a cover of it somday too. Boot Leg |
