Subject: Reissue of rare material by Johnny Heap From: GUEST,Paul Hazell Date: 01 Dec 15 - 02:02 PM It's been a while since I've been on here but my enthusiasm has not dimmed! Members of this group might be interested in a project that I have been working on recently. It is non-profit. For those who recall the warm ballad voice of Australia's country star Johnny Heap, you will be pleased to know that he has a new CD out showcasing 28 of the tracks he recorded during his long career. It is a limited edition called "Retrospectfully Yours" and can be obtained from cmstore@countrymusic.com.au. Ron Adsett at the Country Music Store has kindly agreed to take orders for the CD. It is also available via www.musicstack.com Briefly, the project arose when I played a track on my radio show, "Paul Hazell's World Of Country". I immediately had people asking where they could buy a CD as Johnny's gentle style and simple, country backing seems so fresh today. It even got to the point where Johnny came out of retirement to record four Jimmie Rodgers songs specially for the show! They are also on the CD. Johnny decided he would like to have something available for radio presenters to play and fans to buy - but he did not want to make money out of it so has foregone royalties. This has enabled us to include 28 tracks and still keep the cost to an affordable level. The music clearance fees have been paid with the help of the British Archive Of Country Music and the album is now receiving a lot of airplay from USA to UK, mainland Europe to the Faroe Islands, Australia and New Zealand. If you enjoy country songs sung simply by a good voice with real country players supplying the backing, please support this limited run. Neither I nor Johnny is making money out of this - it really is just to make Johnny's music available again after all these years. Mission accomplished! |

Subject: RE: Reissue of rare material by Johnny Heap From: cnd Date: 17 May 16 - 11:31 PM Ok, so not exactly on topic, but why is there a British archive of country music when the vast majority of country music is not British at all? I know much of it is their descendants, but does anyone know why really? |

Subject: RE: Reissue of rare material by Johnny Heap From: GUEST,Paul Hazell Date: 30 Jun 23 - 09:01 AM Country music has always been very popular in the UK and there have been several noted collectors. One of those was the late Dave Barnes, who founded the archive with singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Brian Golbey. Brian's many recordings of country music match US traditional recordings for quality and passion. The Archive exists to preserve rare old recordings of country music from USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, etc. They have hundreds of CDs available |
