Sam on Soundcloud Sam's blog - Folk Music, Antidote To The X Factor And hey, instead of using your time to write insults to me, use it to listen to Sam instead, because you'll be smiling then, not frowning. :0) |

Subject: RE: Sam Martyn From: Steve Gardham Date: 13 Nov 15 - 04:29 AM And that last posting was from another one of Hull's great treasures who writes wonderful local songs. I nearly wrote 'unsung hero' but that's not true as plenty of people are singing his songs. |

Subject: RE: Sam Martyn From: GUEST,guest willa Date: 13 Nov 15 - 08:11 AM Sam is multi -talented, and modest with it. She dances with the Green Ginger Garland dancers, and plays keyboard, whistles and harmonium, in addition to her singing. Good to see her mentioned on Mudcat. |

Subject: RE: Sam Martyn From: GUEST,Sam Martyn Date: 19 Nov 15 - 09:33 AM Hi all, Well... WOW! Thanks so much for all your kind comments - I've just had a look at this thread after someone from the White Horse Folk Club alerted me to it. I should look at Mudcat more often! I should also do solo gigs a bit more often, but most of my time is taken up with Beggar's Bridge, and I run my own business so I'm incredibly busy with that. I don't push myself forward as much as I perhaps should, owing to time constraints. I've recently joined the White Horse Ceilidh Band, which I'm greatly enjoying (and we are of course available to book for weddings, birthdays and bar mitzvahs :) ). I've got a page on Facebook too, so if you're on there I'd love it if you gave me a 'like'! https://www.facebook.com/sammartynfolk/ Thanks again, it's greatly appreciated. Sam x |

Subject: RE: Sam Martyn From: Steve Gardham Date: 19 Nov 15 - 03:36 PM Sam, Tom was telling me he thinks you have a solo CD out. Can you bring some copies to our next concert please? Or are they all sold out? |
|
Subject: RE: Sam Martyn From: GUEST,Sam Martyn Date: 20 Nov 15 - 05:37 AM No, I still have about 1,000 left... (just kidding, but I certainly do have quite a few!). I keep forgetting to bring my CDs (and some trawler-themed art prints I've done, with a portion of the proceeds to the Sailors' Families' Society) to the maritime concerts, mainly because I'm useless, but at least last time I had an excuse because I was straight off to the footy... Also hoping to get my finger out and produce another CD in time for my White Horse Folk Club gig next Feb (I'm doing the full night again on the 22nd). Sam x |

Subject: RE: Sam Martyn From: GUEST Date: 21 Nov 15 - 01:47 PM ...or cabin cruisers! Seriously, yes, good idea... I actually stayed on the Audrey when I was a kid as part of a week on the Goole waterways. Just put 3 new songs on Soundcloud as I had a nice free day and it was way too cold to be messing about on boats... :) Sam x |
