Subject: The Folk Diary - Its Future From: Vic Smith Date: 03 Nov 15 - 11:29 AM THE FOLK DIARY – AN ANNOUNCEMENT The bi-monthly magazine listing the folk events in Sussex and the surrounding area is about to produce issue number 276 (Dec 2015 – Jan 2016) That means that it has been in existence for 46 years. Throughout that time the production team has been Jim Marshall and myself. Jim has been responsible for the great majority of the work - design, arranging printing, accounts etc. whilst I have been in charge of distribution and helping to obtain adverts. Time marches on and at the beginning of this year, Jim decided that he would like to pass the reigns on to someone else. My feeling was that if someone could take on Jim's role, I would continue with mine. This was announced at the beginning of the year in the hope that someone would come forward to ensure the magazine's future. We had all but given up hope when someone with considerable publishing experience has come forward at virtually the last moment. There are still a few details to be ironed out, but it now looks very likely indeed that Paul Brazier will be the new editor from issue number 277 with me continuing in my current role. There cannot be enough praise heaped on Jim for the decades of unpaid hard work that he has put into the Folk Diary which has never failed to meet its deadline in nearly half a century. Here's how the top quarter of front page of the next issue will look |
