Subject: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker Date: 18 Jun 15 - 11:55 AM .. no.. this isn't a moan about a closed / deleted thread; but a genuine technical question.... I've got used to mudcat loading intermittently as a blank page with just the title heading [etta], which is a minor mystery in itself...?? But over the last couple of days, Mudcat has also started loading 2 or 3 times a day with the entire BS section completely missing.....??? So I'm curious, is this a tech problem at my end to do with something like cookies or ad blocker; or some new developments in progress at Max's server end...??? Not that I'm the paranoid conspiracy theorist type thinking it's some kind of trial testing for a new mod 'time out' super-weapon to target troublesome UK based IPs....😜 |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: Joe Offer Date: 18 Jun 15 - 12:40 PM Hi, PFR- When the BS section is missing, are you logging in as a member or guest? There is a setting for members that will block loading of the BS section (and I can fix that if it's not the way you want it), but it should load everything if you're a Guest. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: GUEST,# Date: 18 Jun 15 - 12:46 PM Joe, M'cat is slow as molasses to load. I just counted 13 seconds to get into this page. I'll count how long to load this post. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: GUEST,# Date: 18 Jun 15 - 12:47 PM That wasn't bad. Six seconds. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: EBarnacle Date: 18 Jun 15 - 12:48 PM The Cat does not seem to be loading any slower than many of my other sites. If anything, it and the threads seem faster than many. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: GUEST,punklfolkrocker Date: 18 Jun 15 - 01:34 PM by coincidence.... all attempts to access mudcat.org in the last 5 - 10 mins have resulted in the blank page with just the big title Mudcat cafe and smaller print etta ??? |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: GUEST,# Date: 18 Jun 15 - 01:41 PM Interesting. A few minutes ago where 'etta' now appears I was seeing 'awe'. Someone is doing stuff with the server I guess. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: GUEST,punkfolkrocker Date: 18 Jun 15 - 01:45 PM yeah.. the etta / awe thing was mentioned and posibly explained a while ago, but I can't remember the details... however the missing BS dept is a new one on me.. only starting a couple of days ago...??? |

Subject: RE: Tech: Disappearing BS anomaly ??? From: Musket Date: 19 Jun 15 - 01:52 PM "Bonk" is another one. My IP gets bonked, which is of course an action by the host, but I am not paranoid about it. Although my opinion of some of our "cousins" just get entrenched. Not that bonking me works. My VPN can switch to roaming IP anyway so dunno why they bother really.... |
