Subject: I'm not the loving kind - what song? From: mike gouthro Date: 09 Jun 15 - 07:18 PM After googling and searching lyrics here I came up empty. I'm trying to find the title and artist for a singer/songwriter song that circulated in the folk boom of the 1960s. I'm not even 100% sure of the line I recall and that's the only bit that comes to mind. I checked Pat Sky, Richard Farina, Tom Paxton, and a few others to no avail. My recollection is that part of the melody may have found its way a Joni Mitchell song, possibly Both Sides Now. I think the chorus structure was: I'm not the loving kind da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da life away? Help please. |

Subject: RE: I'm not the loving kind From: mike gouthro Date: 09 Jun 15 - 09:53 PM That's it. Thanks very much. I checked his discography but stopped short of his 1968 album which contained this song. Given its 1968 vintage, the notion that it preceded Joni's songs seems invalid. |

Subject: RE: I'm not the loving kind From: GUEST,# Date: 09 Jun 15 - 10:34 PM I spoke with him a half year back and he's doing well consid'rin'. I asked considrin what and he replied, "Considrin these golden years can really suck." He never complained that I recall, but he did have a way of getting to the nub of a situation and expressing it in a few well chosen words. He's carried that attribute with him through his life and his songs. He could pace a set better than anyone I ever heard and his albums were like that, too. Great songwriter. |
