Subject: John Conolly at Kiveton Park , Sheffield From: GUEST,Andy Date: 29 May 15 - 07:35 AM The legendary John Conolly will be appearing at Kiveton Park Folk Club on Tuesday 2nd June. John was a big part of the folk revival of the late 50's and 60's and is a well respected writer and singer of songs, mainly about life in his native Lincolnshire, particularly that of the fishing industry. Many of his songs, including Punch and Judy Man and Fiddlers Green have been absorbed into the folk tradition , being sung around clubs worldwide and recorded by many notable folk artistes. This guy is a stalwart of the folk scene, highly respected throughout this country and beyond. John accompanies himself expertly on guitar and melodeon and relates closely with his audience through his musicianship, tales of the fishing inustry and a big dose of humour. Get down to Kiveton Park next Tuesday to see one of the foremost folk performers of the last four decades. Good crowd of regulars, free supper, tea and coffee and a cheapish bar. Kick off 8:30 admission £6. All welcome. Regards Andy |
