Subject: Info appeal - Ivinghoe Plough Stots From: BobL Date: 25 Apr 15 - 03:36 AM Once upon a time there was a Youth Hostel - now closed - in the village of Ivinghoe, the wardens being Jim & Jean Chaplin, a wonderful couple. Running the hostel kept them too busy to pursue their folkie interests, beyond organising barn dances on a fairly regular basis. However at some time, a group of hostellers got together to learn longsword dancing and a mummers' play, performing them under the name of the "Ivinghoe Plough Stots". Are there any ex-hostellers (or indeed current but no longer youthful hostellers) out there who took part in these activities and would be willing to share their memories? |

Subject: RE: Anyone remember Ivinghoe Plough Stots? From: GUEST,Dusty Pulver Date: 25 Apr 15 - 08:58 AM I have photos of them performing Ivinghoe Plough Stots and tapes of performances in the town hall. I'll dig them out and tranfer them to CD when I get time. I'll stick the photos on my web site. Will report back with URLs when complete. For interest, the 1970 Ivinghoe Folk Festival program credits the following people: Pauline Perkin Les Sims Norah Campbell Chris Enever Rob Sims Peter Warden Cliff Wedgebury The Waltham Blacks Malcolm Price Pete Huggins The Cobblers Tim Hart & Maddy Prior Dave and Toni Arthur John Pulver Rose & Ted Gerry Lockran George Norris Martin Johns Don Riley Don Snoad Jim & Jean Chaplin I'll scan the program and stick on my website ASAP. - Dusty |
