Subject: Bubblyrat on the wagon From: bubblyrat Date: 21 Feb 15 - 08:08 AM Well ,at last it has caught up with me ; recent liver problems and bilious attacks, on top of my Acute Kidney Infection and dialysis treatment in 2013 have conspired ,along with my doctor of course,to bring about a major life-style change involving TOTAL ABSTINENCE !! So there it is ; but,you know ,I am quite happy, to be honest, and quite enjoying my new lease of life . I eat better;sleep better;feel better;PLAY better (important !)and Nicola thinks that I am a nicer person all round, so it can't be bad ; and I honestly don't miss booze at all (luckily !!).Phew ! |

Subject: RE: Bubblyrat on the wagon From: Will Fly Date: 21 Feb 15 - 11:23 AM Sorry to hear the ship's not wet any more, dear boy - but good luck with the health, and well done that you can cope with the new régime. I've also had to banish a substance from my diet recently - which is: dairy products like hard cheese, butter and full fat milk. My doc got his hands on me recently (as I rarely get to go my local health centre) and set about me with blood tests and urine dip tests as a matter of course. All OK apart from high cholesterol - hence the reformed diet. I don't have a problem with it either - no trouble about giving anything up if I have to. Just age kicking in for both of us - but it's better than the alternative! |

Subject: RE: Bubblyrat on the wagon From: Backwoodsman Date: 21 Feb 15 - 01:27 PM Bubbly, my last alcoholic drink was in December, 2005 - pancreatitis and complications mean that I'm off alcohol and, like you, I don't miss it. Acceptance is the key - once you accept you'll never drink alcohol again, the rest is easy. Mine was a life and death choice. Easy-Peasy! 👍😄 |
