Subject: BS: FIFA - Fit for purpose........ From: Backwoodsman Date: 13 Nov 14 - 07:48 AM ........or a bunch of crooks, led by an Arch-Villain, resorting to school playground stuff to attempt to deflect blame for their own evil-doing? What say ye? |

Subject: RE: BS: FIFA - Fit for purpose........ From: Stu Date: 13 Nov 14 - 10:02 AM Difficult to know where football goes from here. Corruption rife, FIFA an unfunny joke and the Premiership occupying it's own planet utterly detached from the grass roots of the game. The lower leagues are far more entertaining and are staying true to the sport, despite the upward drain of money caused by the Premiership. |

Subject: RE: BS: FIFA - Fit for purpose........ From: Musket Date: 13 Nov 14 - 10:11 AM Just think, the government could lead a push to boycott everything until FIFA sorts itself out... Oh, That is, apart from the fact they owe Qatar so much, allowing them to own most of London.... Still, life goes on for we Sheffield Wednesday fans, lose or draw. |

Surely that's like suggesting that the UK makes no payments to the EU until their books are balanced (and audited) . . . Oh, good point! |

Subject: RE: BS: FIFA - Fit for purpose........ From: GUEST,Rahere Date: 13 Nov 14 - 06:05 PM Oh, it's football. And there was I puzzling over the first two letters... Section 6 of the Bribery Act 2010 certainly seems to apply, and the other half of the report, showing that the FA has not been clean, makes its application inevitable. The result will be that FIFA can FO, which I think is what the objective is, given that they obviously don't respect the OECD Convention on the matter. And before anyone starts screaming that it's impossible, and becomes a barrack-room lawyer claiming that it's about business, kindly refer to Para 8 of the Section: "a profession is a business". As the FA is the professional institution for thr footballing profession, I think it's watertight. Me, I hate soccer with a passion, as the result of PTSD caused by an abusive football teacher when I was 12. So if the overpaid pansies find they can no longer work in the UK, then my heart bleeds for them. I've seen that bunch first-hand several times in different countries, and none of them rate. |

Subject: RE: BS: FIFA - Fit for purpose........ From: GUEST,Rahere Date: 13 Nov 14 - 07:54 PM The latest news is that the FBI have opened a probe, as Garcia, the former US prosecutor who was brought in as the independent investigator, denies that Eckart's reworking of his findings is accurate. The UK FA have denied the charges made against it and claim a breach of due procedure in that they were not advised before the report was launched. Perhaps the answer is for the UK to refuse to participate and give foreign players the choice of playing in the UK or playing in Qatar. Cricket did something similar when the Packer breakaway started, so there is precedent. |
