Subject: Lyr Add: NOAH'S WIFE LIVED A WONDERFUL LIFE From: RyBurhans Date: 12 Oct 14 - 12:42 PM I've transcribed Eddie Cantor's version of this delightful song. I learned it from a Hoosier Hotshots recording when I was a boy. Noah's Wife Lived a Wonderful Life - Eddie Cantor Most everyday I hear some woman say, "There's nothing in married life" Everyone complaining, I've found Cause all the men are running around There was one woman who never had Reason for feeling bad Oh, Noah's wife lived a wonderful life while floating around in the Ark Noah could never phone home and say, "I can't come home, dear, for dinner today" And his wife knew Noah had to be true, there wasn't a place he could roam If he went out, she didn't give whoop The only chick in there was locked in a coop Oh, Noah's wife lived a wonderful life cause Noah had to stay home "You know, Mr. Noah didn't have such a bad time either. With all those animals on the ark, he had it pretty easy, I'd think. You know he kept all of his extra clothes in the elephant's trunk...and (then) he could never run out of cigarettes, for there were camels aboard...and he spent many a pleasant afternoon, too, listening to the tails of the monkeys. And history neglects to tell us that Noah was the first inventor. Oh yeah, yes he was! One day on the ark, he opened a window and the light came in, you see? There, he had 'ark lights'. (Groan) Alright, boys, I'll sing..." Noah's wife lived a wonderful life while floating around in the Ark When they started, she stood at the door And made the wild women stay on the shore His wife knew Noah had to be true There wasn't a place he could roam But Mrs. Noah never took a chance At night, she always used to lock up his...coat Oh, Noah's wife lived a wonderful life Cause Noah had to stay home |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Noah's Wife Lived a Wonderful Life From: Jim Dixon Date: 12 Oct 14 - 05:21 PM The sheet music, which can be seen at Mississippi State University is somewhat different. It has an alternate chorus and a second verse: NOAH'S WIFE LIVED A WONDERFUL LIFE Words by Jack Yellen and Roger Lewis; music by Ernie Erdman and Abe Olman, ©1920. CHORUS: Oh, Noah's wife lived a wonderful life While floating around in the ark. No blonde hair ever hung on his coat. The only blonde in the ark was the goat. His wife knew Noah had to be true. There wasn't a place he could roam. I know they had just one row: One night she caught him making eyes at the cow. Oh, Noah's wife lived a wonderful life 'Cause Noah had to stay home. 2. If you're in love and if you're thinking of Marrying some handsome man, To make sure he'll always be true, There is only one thing to do: Hire a boat 'way out on the sea, Then watch him carefully. |
