Subject: Eurosession in Edinburgh From: Jack Campin Date: 06 Oct 14 - 08:31 AM I have been thinking for a while about starting a Eurosession in Edinburgh. There are local sessions for Scottish music, Irish music, Americana and klezmer, but not for any other regional idiom. There are people who play Scandinavian, Gypsy and Greek music in bands, and a lot of folks know some French, English and Spanish stuff, but there have never been sessions for those. Any kind of traditional instrumental music from Carlisle to Istanbul. Any instruments. It'd be nice if most people can join in with most tunes, but if you have something in a weird tuning like an alphorn or an Istrian sopila, don't let that put you off. FLAT KEYS ARE FINE. I'm particularly interested in the non-Gypsy music of Eastern Europe, but as many of you know I'm willing to try almost any trad idiom on a lot of different instruments. I have a few ideas for a venue. Edinburgh city centre, Monday or Tuesday night probably. In my experience the best way to organize this sort of thing is by a mailing list. So please PM me a working email address if you're interested and I'll let you know when I've got a time and place. |
