Subject: BS: Burning Man - 2014 From: GUEST,CJB Date: 28 Aug 14 - 08:27 AM I'm planning to visit the BM Festival next year. But I am alarmed at reading of all of the hassles and discriminations that are taken place this year. http://www.burningman.com/ I read that it can take 8 hours or more just to queue to get into the site - and longer to get away. I understand that all that is packed in has to be packed out - I'm OK with that - yet there seems to be no way of purchasing food or water whilst on site. It is reported in the various BM blogs that the police and fed. agents are rampantly abusing everyone searching for drugs, alcohol and firearms; this includes invasive internal body searches. Apparently the aim is to close the Festival down. Has anyone here been there and what are the pros and cons. I have heard that the Festival has now largely been taken-over by corporate Silicon Valley billionaires. |
