In the event of Scottish Independence the Lib Cief Secretary to the Treasury says cross border EU rules will create distaster of Scotland. However, Towers Watson tells us a different story. This EU directive could soon be cancelled so another scare story destroyed. it reminded me of Vince Cable's claim that Scotland would face extra roaming charges just after they were abolished.

Why? If the US can send Social Security and other pension payments to people living in Europe, Asia, and Australasia, couldn't Britain do the same?

This is what the Better Together camp has been proclaiming

But it is the funding of cross-border schemes that most urgently needs to be addressed. Under European Union law, pension schemes with members both in Scotland and elsewhere in the UK would need to be fully funded at all times. In the November report, NAPF said such a regime would result in more final salary schemes closing.

"It's not a can to be kicked down the road because it's a very complex piece of legislation and changing rules in pensions takes some time," said Segars.

You sound like a local MP around these parts who, in the last election, said vote for me to retain your accident and emergency!

Self fulfilling prophesy.

I'll be happy after the vote and Salmond has to check the details of his own pension plan. Nice weather here in Edinburgh. A lovely part of The UK, as the doorman at The Balmoral said to me when I arrived. (Seriously, he said that with no provocation from me!)
