Subject: Folk music on BBC Radio 2 From: Rain Dog Date: 28 Feb 14 - 04:47 AM This is related to the BBC Folk awards thread but I thought I would start a new thread here as this programme does not appear to have been mentioned on the Folk Awards thread. It is part of the BBC Radio 4 programme Feedback which was broadcast last Friday 21.2.14 and then repeated on Sunday 23.2.13 The whole programme is available to listen to for a further 2 days here: Feedback Part of the programme related to the BBC Folk Awards. It was very heartening to be told that some of the more commercial performers like Bellowhead were getting on to the R2 playlist. No doubt the purists here will complain but new people aren't attracted into the scene because of an sudden overpowering desire to go to a singaround, they are attracted because of high quality performances on the national media. Hopefully they will then try a folk club or festival and go on from there. |

I saw them do this live in Lewes around 2010 or so and they were great. |
