How old are your living parent (s) , Mudcatters?

If gone, what age did they pass?

My dad died in an accident at 78 (RIP). My Mom is still living (18 years younger) and healthy - body and mind. She will be 100 years in less than two weeks.

If they were still alive they'd both be 102. But Dad died at 66, Mum at 82.

But I guess their genes live on in me. And their love of music: although they weren't musicians, they paid for me to have piano lessons when I was little, and well, here I am! Thanks, both of you.

My mother died, alas, at the absurd age of 57. 23 March 1967. 47 years ago. My eyes still fill with tears as I type this. Father, who was 8 years older, died 5 years later, at 71.

My Dad died recently aged 90. Thinking about it, it's almost been a year now! It only seems like yesterday. Mum is 86 and still very much missing Dad so not too good at this moment and then losing a younger 84 year old sister as well New Year's Eve it seems that she has gone back 3 paces in her grieving process. Although not strictly a parent I've always considered my Aunt to be like a second mum with the good things that she did so that is why I have included her. RIP

I'm happy to say that both of mine are dead. But both were well into their 90s before demising - after, as they say "long suffering bravely borne".

So I am likely to be pulling your plonkers for a while yet.

Proud delinquent at 65, moi!

My father died in 1975, at 68, after a long illness.
My mother died at 78, as she was slipping into something resembling Alzheimers. (she drove a car till she was 76, with never a single accident for almost 50 years...including snowy mountain passes in the late 30s & early 40s)

I am 74, and feel like I'm barely..... 73... depending on the day and how much snow shoveling was involved.

naawwww... I show only a few signs of my age. I had one uncle live to 90, and I'm heading there!

Dad died 3 years ago at age 85. Melanoma that got missed by his dermatologist until it was too late. His parents lived to 93 and 97, dying within a few months of one another. Although Nannie suffered from severe arthritic pain beginning in her 50's and developed dementia pretty early, Pawpaw lead a very active life physically and mentally right up until the stroke that he died from at age 97. Was still walking at least a mile a day, and lugging 5 gallon water buckets to the dirt flood wall on the Ohio River to water tomatoes in a garden he had started there, a block from his house, after they moved to a place with a walnut tree in the yard that was ruining his tomatoes.

We just celebrated Mom's 85th birthday. She is as spry mentally as she was when I was a girl. Physically, there is no question parts are starting to wear at a faster rate, but she has no medical issues that are not "normal" for some one her age. Her dad died in a coal mine accident when she was a kid, so don't know how he would have fared. Her mother was approaching her 99th birthday when she died.

I have many bad habits and don't expect to live nearly so long, (and don't really want to,) though I am in better health than I ought to be considering the way I have always ignored my body. Good genes apparently do matter.

Sorry, but I must ask why would you want to know this? I mean no disrespect to those who have responded. But why ask such questions?

It's better than some of the thread questions lately Allan, believe me.....

My mum died at a young age of 66 and my father at the absurdly young age of 55. If they were alive today, they'd both be 94 later this year.

Dad will be 80 in May - you all know him :-)

Mum died exactly one month before her 73rd birthday after several years of failing health. We just passed the 7th anniversary at the beginning of this month.

Physically I take after her family, but mentally/emotionally I'm all Dad's side...who knows what will happen.

My Mom died of complications from cervical cancer in 1967. I was 18, she was 43. My Dad said that night that I'd never have a day pass without thinking of her......and he was right. She and I were great friends as well which was also true of my Dad. I was an only child but never a lonely child. I had many friends but I also had my parents. Dad died of lung cancer in 1972. He was 53.

I had two living grandparents when my Mom died but when Dad died they too were gone and I was feeling pretty alone for awhile. But what they gave me was enough and I think my biggest regret comes from them never meeting Karen or our boys. I have outlived both of them and yet still wish I had them around as they still seem much wiser than I am.

91 and 82 but Dad suffers from serious dementia and Mum is loosing it slowly. Oddly enough Dad is the happier of the two but I suspect that is because he doesn't know much about it!

I always like the line "I want to die happily in my sleep like my Grandad. Not screaming in fear like his 27 passengers." :-)

Allan, maybe it's an experiment to see of some of the usual suspects can find something in this topic to be outraged over.
Ed, my Mom is still going strong at 82. My Dad passed at 70 from chronic heart problems, and his father from the same at 61. Interestingly, in looking at the family histories, Dad's ancestors were quite long-lived (upper 90s were common) until my grandfather's generation. Which was about the time heavy cigarette smoking and the modern North American diet came to be commonly practiced. Here's hoping we can reverse the effect in time for me!

We live to be old or are killed...

Dad - killed at 57
Mom - lived to be 83

Dad's parents - Mom - lived to 98, Dad killed at 94

Mom's parents - killed in WWII, middle-aged, teen kids

Had another uncle killed at 84 and an aunt who lived to 100 and a half...
