Subject: Reddit.com's most moving songs From: Jim Dixon Date: 31 Oct 13 - 12:00 PM At Reddit.com (another "social media" site/discussion forum that I use sometimes), someone posted the question "What song, no matter how many times you listen to it, gives you goosebumps or [makes you] tear up?" I thought you might be interested in the results. Keep in mind: Reddit as a whole does not have a specialized focus like Mudcat. Also (duh!) Redditors are mostly younger than typical Mudcatters. Also, Reddit has this system of "upvoting" and "downvoting" so that the most popular responses to a question rise to the top of the list—or at least they have a chance to. (A lot depends on whether a comment was made early or late.) The topic is still active—songs are still being added to the list and voted on, so this is just my snapshot of a work in progress. All these songs got between 30 and 884 net "upvotes" as of 8 a.m. Atlantic time today. (They are in descending order; I omitted those with a score of less than 30.) The list had been up for 12 hours. I have listed only the song titles and artists. The discussion contains lots of comments. Where I happen to know that the song mentioned was a cover version, I have put an earlier artist's name in parentheses. I probably missed some. This is not your typical top 40 list. I hope it will be of interest to some people interested in expanding their repertoires, or their tastes. You can hear almost all of these on Spotify.
