Subject: Tech: Others playing our tunes: From: Les in Chorlton Date: 30 Oct 13 - 11:41 AM Hi Folks, just a plug for Songs and Tunes at The Becch M21 9EG: Other People Playing Our Tunes We thought it might be useful to be able to hear other people playing our tunes. I know they are not 'Our Tunes' - that is one of the basic tenets of folk music. Some do have acknowledged authors but the majority do not. Some of ours have been around for three or four hundred years and hundreds of people will have contributed to their evolution. However, we do have a Tune Book and a loose collection of friends, 120 or so over the past 5 years, 68 on our current e-mail list, who come to the Beech fairly regularly and play in The Beech Band when ever they can. We feel it is essential that people drop in and out of tunes as the feel appropriate - we call this 'An Arrangement'. Listening to other people play is great fun and a great way of spicing up The Beech Band. I will put a link here abouts to YouTube pages on which people are playing tunes from our Tune Book. Some are solo and some are bands, some famous and some not so - but all good stuff - tell your friends. Other People Playing our Tunes Cheers Les |

You might want to check the spelling of 'Westermorland', though... :-) |

As it stands a click on the name of a tune takes you to a YouTube page with a number of versions of that tune being played. I thought this would give people who came to our sessions some idea of what other people do with the same tunes. I know that some of the links on some pages are not to the tune in question - Oats & Beans throws up lots of kids singing. But it generally works. I can add new tunes each day until all 133 of ours are there. I welcome other suggestions on this issue or any others about our website. Thanks |

All are availble as ABC Files, pdfs ie dots on the page, MIDI Files and so far I have put the first 80 - 'Others playing our tunes' - ie links to YouTube - on our website. More fun down The Beech, M21 9EG - Songs 1st & 3rd Wednesdays, Tunes 2nd & 4th Trust this is useful. |

Our website supports our Tunes Session in a number of ways: Dates of events, photographs and tunes that we play ina number of formats. I have recently added links to YouTube of other people playing the same tunes as us. Trust that's clear and useful. |
