Subject: RE: BS: Obit Pillsbury Dough Boy From: Amos Date: 28 Oct 13 - 03:10 PM HE can be proud of the family he left behind, including the internationally renowned Michelin Man, his oldest son, illegitimately conceived and born out of wedlock to his sainted and affectionate mother, PEtro Firestone Goodrich, the estranged daughter of Jack "Rubber" Goodrich. She didn't want to give him up, according to family lore, but they got separated in Frace during the World War, and he was left to grow up on his own, at which he succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. Subject: RE: BS: Obit Pillsbury Dough Boy From: John on the Sunset Coast Date: 29 Oct 13 - 12:03 AM Amos, your begats are wrong vis-a-vis the Dough Boy and the Michelin Man. The Michelin Man as an advertising symbol goes way back to the late 19th century. I remember seeing ads in the late 1940s in magazines in our home. The Pillsbury Dough Boy was born in 1965. Even Speedy Alka-Seltzer (another round icon) is older than PDB, 1951, although he has only appeared sporadically since the mid-60s. |
