Subject: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: Big Al Whittle Date: 25 Aug 13 - 04:56 PM I had been looking forward to seeing the new Lone Ranger movie. I had looked up the starting time at the Odeon. Then I said to myself.....a guy galloping round wearing a mask in blue jump suit and and wearing a big white hat....get a grip Al! It couldn't happen. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: gnu Date: 25 Aug 13 - 05:10 PM It did. It made a lot of money. There exists proof. Unless you speak to your growing up. Oh dear! Say it is not so. Say it could not happen... please. Quick to your notes. Pen a song with silver bullets. Say you'll never grow up. Sing it to the Big Sky of the Wild West! But, go to Odeon and get the extra large popcorn first. I just die for movie theatre popcorn. Just the smell of hot buttered theatre popcorn intoxicates me. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: JohnInKansas Date: 25 Aug 13 - 05:37 PM Reports are that the latest sequel is a typical re-make travesty violating all the prinicples that made the original movies so much loved by the children of my (and probably your) youth. It CANNOT POSSIBLY be any good if reviews are correct, since it is reported that: TONTO HAS DIALOG AND LINES AND GETS A PART TO ACT! Unthinkable! John |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 25 Aug 13 - 07:13 PM As I recall, both the Long Ranger and Tonto were men of few words and even facial expressions. The most exiting part of the show was the theme song. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: Rapparee Date: 26 Aug 13 - 01:11 AM "Kemo sabe, Tonto just find out what 'tonto' mean. By way, 'kemo sabe' mean 'dick head'." Tonto then shoots the LR. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: Big Al Whittle Date: 26 Aug 13 - 05:49 AM Minutes after writing this, I had my first dream about Margaret Thatcher. She had shingled her hair, gone auburn, tattooed her legs and to demonstrate her supernatural powers she levitated two foot into the air. Its the first time I can remember being impressed by her achievements. Even so I don't feel old enough to vote for Cameron. |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 26 Aug 13 - 10:05 PM I better retype what I said earlier: As I recall, both the Long Ranger and Tonto were men of few words and even fewer facial expressions. The most exciting part of the show was the theme song. ======== Quite a few years ago, I read in the newspaper about a man who was living out a long-held dream. When he retired, he got himself a gas can, a tire pump, some fanbelts and a Lone Ranger costume, and he cruised the freeways of Los Angeles, helping people whose cars had broken down. Philosophical question: was he being more mature than ever, or more childlike? |

Subject: RE: BS: Oh no! I've just grown up! From: Big Al Whittle Date: 27 Aug 13 - 08:54 PM Its what they call suspension of disbelief....of course its nonsense but you co-operate with it by believing in it. Perhaps growing up you lose this facility. Or maybe you just choose different falsehoods to believe in - the Daily Mail instead of the Lone Ranger. It doesn't seem a fair swap. |
