Subject: New Friends of Old Time Music From: GUEST,New Friend Date: 14 Aug 13 - 11:18 PM The New Friends of Old Time Music was a student organization on the campus of Illinois State Univ. (Normal, IL) that hosted regular (often weekly) folk, blues and bluegrass concerts from 1970-1987. I have been doing research on the group and have so far compiled a list of 300 performances with many familiar names. One, I want to share the list: http://library.illinoisstate.edu/americasmusic/NFOTMshows.html Second, I am hoping to gather stories and recollections of anyone that might have been in the audience or on the stage and thought this forum would be a great place to start. Any corrections, additions or comments to the list would also be greatly appreciated. If you want to contact me directly you can do so at: newfriendsofoldtimemusic@gmail.com Finally, I wanted to invite anyone with an interest or connection to NFOTM to a "reunion" of sorts that is happening on Sunday Sept 8th in the Normal Public Library Community Room at 1 pm. There will be sharing of stories followed by a concert by The Old Men Boys. |
