Subject: BS: New Auction Item-Poetry Chapbook From: Amergin Date: 25 Jul 13 - 07:55 PM The last PM conversation I had with Kat (a bit over a year ago), was about self publishing. I was looking for pointers. there are so many scams out there that people get bilked for hundreds if not thousands of dollars all the time...and even if they do receive any product they are left with a bunch of books they can't get rid of, after being told the company will help market for them. I, of course, wanted to avoid all that. She gave me some excellent tips based on her own experiences, but in the end (over a year later), I went on a different route...just to dip my toes in, at least at first. I kept putting it off and going through my poetry to see which ones to work with first...and deciding, and then changing my mind, and then putting it off again...I came to the conclusion that I am the undecider. So, anyway, finally, last week I published my first poetry chapbook. It's called Junk Mail of the Heart. I had hoped to be able to send her a copy of something I had published....but unfortunately, that came too late. So, as another dream of mine was to contribute to this site, I am auctioning off one copy of my chapbook. The initial bid starts at $2.50, which is half what the chapbook costs. The bidding will last until 2 weeks from tomorrow. If people are interested, then great, let the war begin. If not, I will donate the $5.00 to Max myself. When Mark and I published "Songs of South Street," we were thrilled to have to do a second printing. Unless you have to print and bind a lot of copies, either go print on demand or in batches of 50 or 100. That will keep your costs down and allow you to limit the quantity of paper you have sitting around the house. |
