Subject: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: olddude Date: 15 Jun 13 - 01:16 PM How do we know his jeans were green all we ever had was a black and white TV back then ... heck it could have been purple .. And why didn't Captain Kangaroo ever turn that annoying bunny rabbit who steals carrots into stew ... Inquiring minds want to know these things |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: GUEST Date: 15 Jun 13 - 01:30 PM I agree. And how come the pig in Green Acres was never turned into bacon (or some lesser writer)? These questions are of import, significance and worthwhilenessification. It's up to you. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Rapparee Date: 15 Jun 13 - 01:39 PM How come at the beginning of the show Marshal Dillon drew AFTER the other guy had drawn and shot, but wasn't hurt? |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: olddude Date: 15 Jun 13 - 02:18 PM why did Genie have no belly button? did she have a zipper instead? |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Ron Davies Date: 15 Jun 13 - 02:19 PM "Marshall Dillon drew..." That's why the pictures are better on radio. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Rapparee Date: 15 Jun 13 - 02:53 PM How did the Lone Ranger and the rest of the Good Guys manage to shoot the gun out of the bad guys' hands, sometime nine or ten times without reloading? And why did Tonto, who was supposed to be an Apache, wear what appears to be leather when they were in the Southwest? All the other Apaches wore cotton or at least something cooler than Tonto did. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: GUEST Date: 15 Jun 13 - 04:55 PM '"Marshall Dillon drew..." That's why the pictures are better on radio.' Having seen your recent posts wherein you denigrate those you judge to be your intellectual inferiors--which seems to be everyone--do you really think taking a witticism from someone else makes you sound good? |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: GUEST Date: 15 Jun 13 - 04:56 PM Having read your many supercilious posts, I had to ask. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: artbrooks Date: 15 Jun 13 - 05:44 PM Actually, the one on Genie was answered recently; the network made her keep her harem pants pulled up so that a glimpse of her belly button wouldn't lure young teens like Old Dude into inappropriate acts. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Bev and Jerry Date: 15 Jun 13 - 09:38 PM We listen to old radio nearly every night on the internet here. Last night we heard an episode of the Lone Ranger and Brace Beemer has no bulge in his pants on radio (unless you imagine it there). This was followed by an episode of The Cisco Kid in which he did, in fact, shoot the gun out of the bad guy's hand! If you are a fan of old radio, follow the link and listen in. It would be nice if you send Mr. Merritt a few dollars or pounds. He runs this site on less than $500 per year so he doesn't need much to break even. Bev and Jerry |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 15 Jun 13 - 10:25 PM There were a number of piglets who portrayed Arnold Ziffel on "Green Acres". Pigs grow so fast that the useful performing life of one is, at most, a few months. What fate befell the Arnolds who outgrew their roles is anyone's guess. But, if I were a betting man, I'd say "Slaughterhouse" would be the odds-on favorite over "Cozy Retirement in Malibu". |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Joe Offer Date: 16 Jun 13 - 02:13 AM Wikipedia says the rumor is NOT true that Hugh Brannum, Mr. Green Jeans, was the father of Frank Zappa. Brannum does have a musical history, however - he had been a member of Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians. He played a number of characters on Captain Kangaroo from 1955 to 1984, including Mr. Green Jeans, The Professor, Greeno The Clown, The New Old Folk Singer, and Mr. Bainter the Painter. So there's even a folk music connection. -Joe- |

Subject: RE: BS: Mr. Green Jeans From: Phil Cooper Date: 16 Jun 13 - 10:03 AM I do remember Mr. Green Jeans playing a tenor guitar on at least one episode. Also Marshall Dillon drew after being fired upon was that cool heads prevailed in gunfights, and being a good guy, the shot missed. |
