Subject: She's Fired - Seaham Mine Disaster From: GUEST,JHW Date: 13 Jun 13 - 05:47 AM A telling on stage of the story of the Seaham mining disaster of 1880 by some of those who were lost, blocked in by the mine owners who's priority was to save the coal. Narrated against a very atmospheric dark and deep sound stage and lighting effect but with with light relief from real pitman Bert Draycott. Written, directed and narrated by Bob Lowery. Songs performed impeccably by a band of artists who remain on stage include many written especially for the show by Musical Director John Wrightson. Sorry I don't have a programme to give more background. I highly recommend this show which I saw at Bishop Auckland Town Hall, Co. Durham. The next performance is on Saturday 6th July at Georgian Theatre Royal Richmond, North Yorkshire Tel 01748 825252 |

Subject: RE: She's Fired - Seaham Mine Disaster From: nutty Date: 13 Jun 13 - 12:01 PM definitely worth going to see. Johm Wrightson is an ex- miner so the show has a ring of authenticity, It is very well performed with some great songs to join in with. |

Subject: RE: She's Fired - Seaham Mine Disaster From: GUEST,Ray Thom Date: 13 Aug 13 - 12:47 PM Don't miss this. It's a great night. I play a small part and have seen every performance. I'm still moved by the story both the sad and funny parts. miners always saw the humour in everything however dark, so the mix is spot on. A great story from Bob and great music and song from the cast. |
