What I have done up to now is have a local program PasswordSafe, which has its own password, and put any extra PWs I might have in it. My master PW, when written out, looks weird and random, but it is a pattern on the keyboard that is easy to do. (I have no idea what it is, and don't even try to memorize it... I just do the pattern.) I know of folks who highly tout KeePass and LastPass... and argue bitterly over which is 'better'. I'll look and see if they know of DashLane. I suppose that basic system can work ok, but I just kinda would rather keep my own list chosen & operated by me instead of letting a program invent them. YMMV |

Dashlane just added two factor authentication but it doesn't have one-time passwords yet. Dashlanes password manager is not as robust as LPs. There are some nice features of Dashlane such as financial account management like keeping track of purchase history and making payments which is the key difference between it and LastPass, but I don't use these tools for financial transactions. It is a better alternative to LastPass than 1Password but LastPass still has a stronger feature set, barring the financial gain Dashlane has over LastPass. If you want to make your purchases through Dashlane, then it might be the better choice for you." |

From: Bill D Date: 09 Jun 13 - 09:45 AM from reading the article, it 'seems' that DashLane assumes that you have a cell phone and wants to text a code to it, as well as entering the master password. I suppose that if I had serious security concerns (apart from fretting constantly about gargoyle's hacking ;>)) I would consider it. As it is, I see no advantage in the extra time involved. |
