Subject: rq sing-alongs for 'the barn dance' From: Mo the caller Date: 16 May 13 - 06:09 AM I often call 'the Barn Dance' at ceilidhs and some of the bands I work with have singing sets for these. Trouble is, for weddings and gigs with younger participants many of the songs are a 'bit before their time' 'Enry the Eigth Wouldn't leave my little wooden hut You are my honeysuckle John Brown's body Underneath the spreading chestnut tree etc. etc. When I'm 64 fits the dance well and gets a response. And sometimes songs that would be 'dated' even for a gig in a care home go down OK. Can you suggest any more ploddy songs that might be well known to younger generations (in England). I thought it better to start a new thread rather than mix my request with the Biker's Singalong thread |
