Subject: BS: The Battle of Vimy Ridge From: gnu Date: 09 Apr 13 - 09:16 PM "Tonight, we drink, for tomorrow, we die. I love you." William McKenzie, April 8, 1917. Thanks, Uncle Bill. Lest we forget. BTW... he was badly shell shocked but made it home so he could raise his mangy, nasty little dogs that used to snarl at me and try to bite me for daring to try to pet the little bastards. I'll never forget the last one... it use to curl up in the crack of his ass when he napped on the cot in the verranda after supper while "she" was washing supper dishes. Uncle Bill was a 6'4" and a bear of a man. He could pack away the grub and fart ten times as much. When he did and that nasty, awful devil dog was curled up like that, it would sit up and gasp for air and scrunch up it's face and I would laugh... until I saw it narrow it's stare and brow at me, knowing full well it would exact revenge for my impudence. He was a character he was. I often wish I could have spent time with him after I passed my teenage years. The dogs, no. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Battle of Vimy Ridge From: Bobert Date: 10 Apr 13 - 03:31 PM I'll be perfectly honest, I had never heard of this battle so I just Googled it up and read about it... Pretty interesting stuff... Sorry about Uncle Bill... I had an Uncle Boo (Jack) who fought in WW II and Korea but he never said a word about either... Like yer uncle, he was kinda on the rough side but real interesting... He had a doberman pincher named Juno who was a sweet as a dog can be... First dog I think I ever met... B~ |
