Subject: BS: Anyone know a movie writer agent? From: Jack the Sailor Date: 01 Apr 13 - 12:05 AM Good MOVIE news for Wilmington, maybe. Just got back from the Reel Cafe downtown, ran into a buddy of mine who is trying to get into screenwriting. He pitched a movie idea to someone at Screen Gems EUE and they want to buy an option on the screen play. I think that is what they call it. Anyway they want to pay him to write a script. He's pretty exited about it. It's tentatively called "Jim Carrey's Old Testament." He said he got the idea from watching Carrey do the Charlton Heston thing. He says Bible stories are hot in Hollywood now. But no one is doing a comedy. Apparently Carrey wants to play all of the patriarchs, Moses of course, Abraham (with fire marshall what's his name trying to put out the burning bush), David, Lot, Job, Sampson, Daniel, Noah as the Ace Ventura character etc. He has Olivia Munn in mind for Delilah, Some guy named Demitri Martin for Joshua and Adam Samberg (snl?) as the young David, I dunno, hope it works out. Apparently the Studio can use the work. He's pretty excited. He doesn't know how to get an agent and they say that he needs one. Anyone have any ideas? |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone know a movie writer agent? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 01 Apr 13 - 05:25 AM In the UK there was a refence book called "Writers & Artists Yearbook" which gives lists of agents etc. Is there a similar US publication online or in print? I suggest he asks his friendly local librarian. As so many agents seem useless unless you're already successful (according to writer friends!) personal recommenbdation would be best, but no good if he knows noone in the business. Maybe the Screenwriters Guild keps lists? RtS (retired librarian!) |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone know a movie writer agent? From: Ebbie Date: 01 Apr 13 - 06:12 PM At the moment I can't recall the name of the Mudcatter who makes short movies/videos/cartoons of his own devising, and is apparently successful at it. In all likelihood he has an agent, and he may have advice on the matter. Anyone here recall the 'Catter's name? |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone know a movie writer agent? From: gnu Date: 02 Apr 13 - 08:45 AM CC's ruse was great... This is one kind of GMO technology I think I might be able to support. Scientists have discovered a way to splice alcohol molecules into plants that bear fruit so they produce fruit with an alcohol content of more than 10% when they are ripe. The idea is to reduce the amount of waste that is created by bottling alcoholic beverages. Yum! |

Subject: RE: BS: Anyone know a movie writer agent? From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 02 Apr 13 - 11:22 AM Hmmm. I should have remembered the date! The proposed cast is almost as good as the one I roughed out when working on my screenplay for Goats on a Boat my vampire capricorn sequel to Snakes on a Plane. RtS |
