Subject: BS: No access at torremolinos station From: Bonzo3legs Date: 31 Mar 13 - 05:39 AM We visited Torremolinos (Spain) by train yesterday, to discover that there is no disabled or wheelchair access to the platform in the direction of Malaga. My wife currently has big problems in negotiating stairs, so we were advised to take the first train in the opposite direction to the next station where it is single track only, and we can take a train in the opposite direction from the same platform. This is absolutely disgraceful............ |

Subject: RE: BS: No access at torremolinos station From: Will Fly Date: 31 Mar 13 - 05:53 AM I went to Torremolinos in 1974. I thought it was the most commercial, touristy dump I'd ever seen in Spain - and that was 40 years ago. Lots of single track lines in Spain at that time - I travelled from Port Bou to Valencia standing in the corridor of a "Correo" along slow stretches of single track - no surprise that bits still exist today. I hope you and your wife managed to survive the experience. |

Subject: RE: BS: No access at torremolinos station From: Bonzo3legs Date: 31 Mar 13 - 06:47 AM Thanks, I was OK, but my wife had big problems. We are just travelling to single track stations on this line now. Torremolinos is an over commercialised dump, too full of English bars - great for people watching though! |

Subject: RE: BS: No access at torremolinos station From: Bonzo3legs Date: 31 Mar 13 - 02:02 PM I'm sure it was. Went to Carvajal today, a few KM further on, and it was completely Spanish, with an excellent restaurant by the sea specialising in seafood. |

Subject: RE: BS: No access at torremolinos station From: Ron Davies Date: 01 Apr 13 - 12:24 AM As you know, Spain is in dreadful shape economically these days--which might have something to do with the infrastructure not being in good repair. |

Subject: RE: BS: No access at torremolinos station From: Bonzo3legs Date: 01 Apr 13 - 06:37 AM We discovered that there is one platform level entrance to the train - fine for wheelchair users, but then there are 3 fairly steep steps up to the seating level which is hopeless for folks with dead knee joints like my wife!!! |
