Subject: BS: This years holiday From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 23 Feb 13 - 07:20 AM This year we are planning to visit Ireland for the first ever time. What we are thinking of is spending 2 or 3 days in Dublin, then on to a nice part of the coast - reachable by train or bus staying in a self catering cottage - also at a location will will allow for 2 or 3 day trips (by bus or train). Then one more night in Dublin before returning home. Any suggestions? We do not have a big budget so we are looking for cheap and cheerful, It is just the two of us so we would look for a double b&b in Dublin, and a one bedroom cottage on the coast. Nearby folk music would be a bonus! We are looking at the second half of September. |

Subject: RE: BS: This years holiday From: ChanteyLass Date: 24 Feb 13 - 01:38 PM I wish I could help! I have a friend who does this sort of trip to Ireland each year, but she's not on Mudcat. Most years she goes to a different part of Ireland. I think she looks at self-catering cottages online, and I don't think she has ever been disappointed. She even rents a car and of course drives on the "other" side of the road. It would be nice if someone here who has done that could recommend some reliable websites. |

Subject: RE: BS: This years holiday From: SPB-Cooperator Date: 24 Feb 13 - 01:55 PM On this occasion we are looking at public transport to get about, Galway is a front runner at the moment as it has affordable apartments in the city. But still open to suggestions. Another year I would think of taking a car over on the ferry, but I wouldn't trust my current car - it has had tow serious problems since I bought it. In fact I wouldn#t trust it any further than I can push it back home! |
