Subject: RE: Obit: richard briers From: fat B****rd Date: 18 Feb 13 - 03:52 PM All of the above. I first saw him in a TV Charlie's Aunt. A very impressive and versatile actor. His portrayal of an evil professor in an Inspector Morse episode called Death Is Now My Neighbour was chilling. RIP Mr. Briers |

Subject: RE: Obit: richard briers - 17 Feb. 2013 From: GUEST,Tunesmith Date: 21 Feb 13 - 01:46 PM Richard knew he was going to die, and he knew that his smoking had hastened his end, but I don't agree with him when he said - something like - "Well, at 79 you're pretty much buggered anyway!" Now that's not true! |

Subject: RE: Obit: richard briers - 17 Feb. 2013 From: GUEST,Chris B (Born Again Scouser) Date: 22 Feb 13 - 04:40 AM There's a lovely scene in Kenneth Branagh's film of 'Much Ado About Nothing' with Richard Briers and Brian Blessed on one side of the scene and Denzel Washington on the other. Blessed and Briers completely wiped the floor with them. The yanks never knew what hit them. I always imagine Branagh calling 'Cut!' and Blessed turning to Washington and Reeves and saying, 'And that, dear boy, is how you play the Bard!' Can't help feeling, though, that if you lived next door to their characters from 'The Good Life' you'd end up wanting to punch them. Peapod burgundy my arse. |
