Subject: RE: BS: does my email have a virus? From: bobad Date: 04 Feb 13 - 08:30 AM Most likely your email has been hacked and is being used to send spam. This is quite common especially with web based email accounts such as Yahoo, Hotmail, gmail etc. |

Subject: RE: BS: does my email have a virus? From: GUEST,999 Date: 04 Feb 13 - 08:44 AM I receive one of that type of email per month (or so). It is usually a lame attempt best described by example--fictional. A friend's real email address dabbledooby@deserttv.com The fake 'hacked' address that the email comes in under dabbiedooby@deserttv.com I closely check all incoming emails for that type of discrepancy. It then is marked as spam and trashed. (Note in the second email address the l has been replaced with an i.) |

Subject: RE: BS: does my email have a virus? From: bobad Date: 04 Feb 13 - 08:47 AM Hackers also use bots that scan the web and harvest email addresses that are posted on publicly accessible sites, they then employ the addresses as spam bots. |

Subject: RE: BS: does my email have a virus? From: Stilly River Sage Date: 04 Feb 13 - 09:58 AM Your address has been spoofed - the reasoning is that your system will let your own email address through the spam filter. I hear from friends that they've received these from my Yahoo email. I never use it, but it is intact. Their address list was harvested and now they're receiving mail from the various addresses in it. SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: does my email have a virus? From: GUEST,Eliza Date: 04 Feb 13 - 12:45 PM I sometimes get email to my correct address and even with my actual name at the top (an obviously female name, not Pat Smith) offering to introduce me to hot ladies, improve my erections or enlarge my organ etc. Rather a startling thought! I never open them, just delete. But where did they get my email address from? Needless to say, I don't frequent sites offering such things! |
