Subject: Tune Req: the black/prancing pony From: sciencegeek Date: 09 Dec 12 - 11:30 AM Thirty years ago, while living on eastern Long Island, we knew a delightful gentleman, Ed Keeney, from Donegal who played wonderful fiddle tunes. One tune he called either the black or prancing pony. Any recording of it we had has been long lost and my memory of the tune is fuzzy at best. Oldtimers, what can I say... But I'm starting to wonder if the tune The Black Nag is either the same tune or a very close derivative. Anyone have any thoughts on this? |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: the black/prancing pony From: sciencegeek Date: 09 Dec 12 - 12:45 PM Ed was a princely person and always a delight to be around. A mutual friend had informed me of his passing a few years back and we all mourned his passing. He was always so self effacing, it was difficult to get him to accept praise. Praise he so richly deserved. |
