Subject: 'Folksongs of Britain & Ireland' - sale From: Will Fly Date: 29 Nov 12 - 06:16 AM I've had a 1st (1975) edition of Peter Kennedy's classic "Folksongs of Britain & Ireland" on my shelf for some years now. It's an ex-library copy - legally and properly withdrawn from stock - which I bought many years ago. It was hardly used when I bought it and I haven't done more than dip into it myself over the years, so I'm going to sell it and donate the proceeds of the sale to Max and Mudcat. Before I put it onto eBay or (more likely) go round to my local s/h booksellers, Any 'Catter who wants to make an offer for it in can PM me - say by the end of Sunday 8th December. It's in excellent condition, hardback, and still with the dustjacket wrapped in a plastic cover. I'm aware that Peter Kennedy's work has been subject to some argument and controversy over the years - which I don't want to re-open here - but the book itself is a fascinating read for those with an abiding interest in the subject. And the original 1st edition is fairly rare these days. I discovered a copy in poor condition on AbeBooks some time ago for £120. I'm not interested in that sort of money and would much prefer it to go to someone on Mudcat for a sensible price. Anyway, PM me if you're interested. The highest bidder to make a bid over £25 by midnight GMT on Sunday 8th December wins it. If I get no bids from 'Catters then I'll dispose of it in another way - and the proceeds will go towards Mudcat. |
