Subject: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: gnu Date: 25 Nov 12 - 07:09 AM Haven't followed it for years. One simple difference in the rules make it VERY different from Yankee football. As my bro used to say, "Two downs and a cloud of dust." Some say it's far more exciting because there is more action and "bigger" plays/attempts. Anybody follow it? Any favs for the big game tonight? |

I like to cheer against those arrogant Toronto boosters, Harper, born in Toronto, is cheering for Calgary and of course Calgary keeps sending Harper to Ottawa..... |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: gnu Date: 25 Nov 12 - 10:55 AM Well, I am gonna watch Lightfoot and then turn the TV back to Broncos/Chiefs while I watch Vikings/Bears on the other TV. If they ever put on three games at the same time, I'll have to bring up the small TV and put it on the coffee table. My only concern is that I might accidentally see Justin while trying to catch Lightfoot. I'll just have to be brave. |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 26 Nov 12 - 01:29 PM It's hard to tell when you've only got the highlights, but I just watched them on cfl.ca, and it sounded like a good game. Shame about the Stamps. You can't help but like a team that plays its home games in a stadium with the first line of the 121st Psalm in 17thc Perthshire Gaelic in the end zone! |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: gnu Date: 26 Nov 12 - 05:07 PM I enjoyed Gordon's performance. I take it The Big Smoke won. GO PATS! Hey. I am as Canuck as the next hoser but, well, noooo. The sooner the CFL gets four downs, the sooner there will be Canuck teams in the NFL. Am I wrong here? |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 26 Nov 12 - 05:48 PM Just been reading some history. Apparently American codes have 4 downs is a result of Harvard University not having room for a full sized pitch, and many of the differences are a result of the cramped playing surface used by American teams. Just to compare, the Football Association laws of 1863 specify a length of 200 yards (same as the Melbourne Football Club laws of 1858). |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: ragdall Date: 26 Nov 12 - 07:29 PM gnu, wasn't it nice that they featured Gordon first so you could switch channels before the Bieb took the stage? The game was boring. Calgary played so well against BC. How could they be so clueless in the Grey Cup? rags |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: bobad Date: 26 Nov 12 - 07:42 PM I, for one, wasn't fooled (surprised, yes) by Calgary's defeat of B.C. - made 10 bucks off of a couple of buddies who were though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Nov 12 - 07:51 PM Just read that the biggest loser of the game was Justin Bieber who got his little dumb ass booed by his countrymen. Good job Canucks!!! Spaw |
|
Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: gnu Date: 26 Nov 12 - 08:43 PM They booed him? That doesn't sound like Canucks! I mean, I can't stand the lad's music but I wouldn't boo him. Hell, I wish I was making his money and pussy. Lucky little talentless shit. Oops... did just I just boo him? |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: GUEST,999 Date: 26 Nov 12 - 10:00 PM He's Canadian? No shit? OK, then the kid's alright. No foolin', I thought he was a Yank and THAT'S why I didn't like him. Fawk, the things one learns on Mudcat. I feel so ashamed. OK, is this some set-up stuff to sucker a guy in? Is he really a Canuck??? |

Subject: RE: BS: Grey Cup 2012 (Canuck football) From: ragdall Date: 27 Nov 12 - 12:37 AM Yep, the Bieb is from Ontario, did the French immersion thing and does not want to become an American citizen, even though he works and owns property in the USA. rags |
