Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Bobert Date: 22 Oct 12 - 10:22 PM I see it differently.... Romney has bullied Schieffer at every turn with the exception of one where Romney wasn't able to manipulate... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Ebbie Date: 23 Oct 12 - 12:07 AM I thought Bob Shieffer did the best job that I've ever seen him do. He was energetic and outspoken and firm. In the past, not so much. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Elmore Date: 23 Oct 12 - 09:51 AM It's a tough gig, but Shieffer was up to the task. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Stringsinger Date: 23 Oct 12 - 12:04 PM Bob Shieffer "low-balled" all of the questions to the candidates and no mention of Global Warming, (no not climate change), made assumptions that a military solution to our Mid-East policy should be considered, (a complete and utter U.S. policy failure), no criticism of the Palestinian oppression as if that group of people didn't exist, no mention of the U.S. stockpile of nuclear weapons, no fact check on what Ahmadinijad actually said about Israel (not the "wipe off the face of the Earth" b.s.) and gave Romney too much time to spout and sputter showing that Mitt had no experience or education in foreign policy and still wants to ship arms to Syria. Shieffer was a Debate Commission plant that was in place because they knew his questions would be "palatable" to them. The debate really was a Circus. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: GUEST,jts Date: 23 Oct 12 - 12:18 PM I think if you want those topics covered you need to get the Green party into the debate. This debate was about the "differences" between Mr. Obama and "Mr Me Too." |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Bobert Date: 24 Oct 12 - 03:04 PM Yes, the debates were a circus... All three of them... Too many questions... I think they should have one question and debate it for an hour and a half... What that would do is reveal the way candidates "think" once the sound bites are gone... Yes, I would loved to have seen a question on global warming or why Romney thinks that polluters should have the right to pollute our water and poison our air... And why Romney would shut down the EPA... Actually, I'd like to have had someone have Romney discussion Mormonism in context of his policies related to polluting... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Jack the Sailor Date: 24 Oct 12 - 11:31 PM If Romney had been asked about global warming, Mormonism or Lady Gaga, he would have given the answer that polled the best among the undecided voters. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Little Hawk Date: 24 Oct 12 - 11:56 PM No doubt. That's how politic campaigning works. It's not about truth or principle...it's about securing votes. That means telling the people who might be persuaded to vote for you something that they want to hear....as well as pleasing your usual strong support base so they'll get out and vote. That's the game both parties play. The reason I like the Democrats better than the Repugs is simple. I like their general support base better (meaning I have much more in common with them, politically speaking). I am well aware that both parties are deeply duplicitous and deceitful, but I identify more with the philosophy of the people who are fooled by the Democratic Party than I do with the philosophy of the people who are fooled by the Republican Party. Ayn Randism is to me the absolute WORST social philosophy. It goes against everything I instinctively believe in. |

Subject: RE: BS: The Best Moderator CBS old guy! From: Jack the Sailor Date: 25 Oct 12 - 12:03 AM No it is not how political campaigning works. Not to this degree. Not until now. |
