Bingo!

Yes, that is the crux of the problem. Money controls the political process. Those who create the money have co-opted the system, and it is the banks who create the money...in the form of debt. What we are presently living under is a gigantic pyramid scheme, one which grows ever more unstable. That is the nature of pyramid schemes.

The coins minted and bills printed by (or on behalf of) governments are a mere fraction of the supposed money that's in play. They're just the tip of the iceberg. Most of it consists of a mountain of paper debt that can't possibly be repaid, and which grows continually larger, while generating further imaginary money in the form of interest owed to the lenders. This money appears on balance sheets, but it isn't real. Nothing real was ever done to earn it. It does not symbolize effort or accomplishment, it symbolizes fraud.

How is this unpayable mountain of debt partially paid down each year? Through your taxes. So the general public pays for the banker's giant Ponzi scheme. As the debt becomes crushingly larger, governments are forced to either raise taxes or dismantle and privatize social services and public institutions. They are forced to reduce your "entitlements". They'll do that before they raise your taxes, because they're afraid you won't vote for them if they raise your taxes, so they mostly work at it from the other end.

But either way...you lose and the banks win, until the whole thing finally collapses. When it does, anything can happen.

"Lobbying pressure" is essentially equivalent to bribery of one sort or another - while it is right to put a lpot of blame those who pay bribes, the primary guilt rests on those who are ready to be so corrupt as to be bribed.
