Frank's wife Mary just posted this health update on Frank's Facebook page:

Frank is checked in at St. Joe's Hospital; after further test he is scheduled to undergo an operation to repair two clogged sections of the main coronary artery.
Dr J Miller will perform the operation around 9 in the morning. The recuperation period is expected to be 5 days to one week with another 4-6 weeks to more fully recover through restricted activity. He is remarkably resigned to having operation, grateful for such wonderful help & the love of so many friends.
We will be in touch with you with updates after the operation, period of time in ICU and when we he is transferred to his hospital room(do not know the # yet).

For those who do not know, Frank is a folksinger and guitarist, a founder of the Old Town School of Folk music in Chicago, and was a member of the Weavers for a time.

Indeed, he is.

I've been an admirer of Frank Hamilton since I first heard of him in the late 1950s. i saw him once on stage in Seattle in the early Sixties, with The Weavers. He waa on the stage, I was up in the balcony.

Hang in there, Frank. We'll be looking forward to hearing from you again right soon.

Piece of cake. I had a triple in January and I just walked two miles on trails with some steep uphills, in 45 minutes, and didn't notice any strain.

BUT HE'S GOTTA DO THE REHAB AND STICK WITH IT ALL 12 WEEKS! You come out of it feeling 20 years older, and the rehab takes you back to your actual age. Sometimes a little younger.

Just my personal take, but based on experience.

I always look forward to postings from Frank, esp. political, since we see eye to eye most of the time and I appreciate the benefit of his experience and wisdom.

I survived open heart to replace a valve. They can do wonders these days. I look forward to "onward and upward" reports of recovery.

Frank has always been a source of sanity and sensible advice and help on this forum and a teller of great anecdotes. The Weavers, including Frank Hamilton, were among my earliest influences in folk music. Frank's posts on here have always been a pleasure to read. Although we have never met I feel that Frank is an old friend who has done me meny favours through his music and his knowledge. here's to a speedy and compleete recovery.   RoyH

A tetchy computer has mostly kept me off Mudcat for a few weeks, and I only just now found this thread.

I've admired Frank Hamilton for many years, and his posts here have always been well worth reading. I've learned a lot from his knowledge and insight.

I am greatly relieved to hear that he is up and about. Please keep all of us updated as to his continuing progress, so we all can continue to shout words of encouragement from the sidelines.
