Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: GUEST,Ebor_Fiddler Date: 05 Jul 12 - 11:51 AM Has anyone seen the definitive running timetable? We (Spen Valley Longsword) have seen two compleyely different ones, which have us dancing at different spots at the same time! |
|
Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: Lenny's mum (inactive) Date: 05 Jul 12 - 03:05 PM Sorry Ebor Fiddler, you will need to contact John Hayward for those details as he is organising the dance sides. Your side should have his contact details. |

Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: Lenny's mum (inactive) Date: 05 Jul 12 - 03:07 PM Well one day to go! Weather not looking good at the moment, but don't let that dampen the festival. I for one will still enjoy whatever the weather. Campsite is still looking good, we have a temporary road in place so that campers and caravans can get on and off easily, and obviously the sun is meant to be on order for Saturday and Sunday, we will just have to wait and see. See you there! |

Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: GUEST,Cleckheaton FF Street Entertainment Organise Date: 05 Jul 12 - 03:45 PM With regard to Saturday 7th July dance programme for Cleckheaton Folk Festival a version of the timetable for Saturday, along with other information was issued to all dancesides on the 18th June, this included our contact for Spen Valley Longsword. We have checked this spreadsheet and Spen Valley are not dancing at different spots at the same time. The information on the spreadsheet clearly shows that Spen Valley start the day with the Festival Parade scheduled between 11.00 a.m. and 12.00 Noon, they then move to Savoy Square to dance with other sides between 12.15 p.m. and 1 p.m. Their next location is the Rose & Crown dance area, again along with other sides, from 1.15 p.m - 2 p.m. Their third dance location, again with other sides, is at the Wickham Pub Car Park, 2.30 p.m - 3.15 p.m. After a short break it will be time for the Wickham Dance Trophy Competition to start at the Wickham Pub Car Park at 3.40 p.m., with all the sides attending the Festival this year. Spen Valley will be dancing, as usual in the competition, our Spen Valley contact was forwarded the Dance Running Order for the competition. We hope this clarifies the dance programme for Saturday regarding Spen Valley and we cannot understand how the confusion has come about. It is important that a representative of Spen Valley collects their information envelope from the Festival Desk on Saturday morning as this will contain any updated information that the danceside may require whilst they are at the Festival. Cheers - See you at the weekend |

Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: GUEST,Guest (Cleck fan) Date: 06 Jul 12 - 04:11 AM I remember the last Saddleworth FF Saturday morning parade and it absolutely *issed down. Everybody in the parade was soaked through and a lot went home. I hope common sense prevails tomorrow (Sat) for the Cleck parade as not everybody can go home and change. |

Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: r.padgett Date: 09 Jul 12 - 12:39 PM Was there and congratulations on the 25th Anniversary to Geoff, Jan and new boss Dave Minich and his team The Wickham I was told and from what I saw was heaving and I think a "folk club" style session for performers in say the down stairs room at the George would have been good too and augment the Hiring Fair! Sunday noon session with guests could have been much longer and there were many excellent singers who travelled many miles to sing themselves only a handful of songs! I sang about 5 songs all weekend but was fortunate to join in with some excellent singers in choruses Hope the festival goes from strength to strength another 25 years All the very best to Russ Hughes who has been a stalwart of the local Cleckheaton scene for many years as he has gone to live some distance away! Similarly Fyrish who have moved back to Scotland for family reasons Ray |

Subject: RE: Countdown to Cleckheaton Folk Festival From: Vin2 Date: 09 Jul 12 - 02:02 PM Well, that was my first Cleckie fest. A great w/end it was too. The weather didn't dampen the spirits. I was booked to camp but chickened out on Thursday and stayed in b & b instead....may use the tent next year tho all bein well. Am with you Ray on the singarounds. I went up to the Wickham a couple of times but far too heaving. Am sure you or Joe & Mo or t'other MC's could run a good couple of singarounds in the George or Commercial upstairs. A few of my fave moments? Well Vin G of course, and the Youg Uns (please bring back for a star billing sometime), Blackstone Edge, Martin Simpson, Mike Forsyth from Copper Kettle (well done to him - hope Peter gets better soon) and of course the always brilliant and lovely Hazel and Linda of Hissyfit. Anyroadup, many thanks to all the committee for a fab w/end and hope to see y'all next yerar. |
