Subject: Lyr Req: Lonesome River Edge. From: GUEST Date: 31 May 12 - 09:54 AM There's a great snipit of this song by Dylan on the Minnesota Tapes. He cuts it out and that makes me sad. Talk of cobblestones, midnight trains rolling, and some lonesome river edge remind me of growing up in West Virginia. I am a little worried that it's sort of a traditional song and more just something Dylan mostly made up on the spot. I held her hand on a cobblestone corner I kissed her lips by the river bridge I said good-bye with a night train rolling On a lonesome day by the lonesome river edge. |

Do you mean the Banjo-Tapes (sp?) recorded at Gerde's basement in 1963 with some work by Happy Traum? The Minnesota Tapes were originally recorded mostly in May of 1961. |
