Subject: Reformed Whores' song: 'I'm A Slut' From: Genie Date: 10 Mar 12 - 02:19 AM The "Reformed Whores" reply, musically, to certain right-wing talking heads and politicians recently calling them "sluts," "snobs," "elitists," etc. I'm A Slut (The Reformed Whores) I'll see if I can transcribe the lyrics soon, but there's one part of one line I'm still trying to decipher, and there's a lot of fast talking thrown in, in places. Love the song, though. |

It was reserved for certain girls who'd been 'round the block once or twice. But listen y'all we got news that will blow your mind. Thanks to Mr. Limbaugh that words been redefined! So apparently now... (chorus) Im' a slut I'm a slut I'm a slut slut slut I'm an S.L.U.T. S.L.U.T. Slut! I went to school I speak my mind, I'm responsible for my behind. I'm a slut I'm a slut I'm a slut. I've only slept with one man my entire life. We got married last june now I'm proud to be his wife. I'm on the pill so we won't have kids until we can be financially responsible for them. Then they can be a joy in our lives instead of a burden. You slut! Thank you! (Chorus) When I was young I got bad cramps that made me grumpy as my gramps. Once a month is took it's toll so I was put on birth control. At 16 it was a relief to be freed from PMS grief. It had nothing to do with sex... But to be perfectly honest with you if I had wanted to have sex at that time that would have been my own personal decision that has nothing to do with you or anyone else just me and the person I choose to be wiiiiiiiittthhhh... You slut! Thank you!! (chorus) Wait wait wait. Did you go to college? Why yes! I went to college! Do you know what that makes us? SNOBS!! YAY!!!! Subject: RE: Reformed Whores' song: 'I'm A Slut' From: Genie Date: 10 Mar 12 - 02:05 PM Saul, thanks so much for the transcription. The only part that I was having trouble deciphering was the " I'm responsible for my behind" part. I got the "I" and the "my behind" but couldn't quite make out the "responsible for" - at least on hearing the song a couple times. Anyway, you saved me - all of us - a lot of trouble by typing out all those words! Thanks! Genie |

I don't think they were there when I first saw it, but maybe I just didn't click the "More" box. Anyway, thanks. Subject: RE: Reformed Whores' song: 'I'm A Slut' From: saulgoldie Date: 11 Mar 12 - 09:01 AM And the sluts are not the only ones with a song. Game On I think they are being serious. I doubt they understand how funny they really are. Maybe thread drift... Saul |

Subject: RE: Reformed Whores' song: 'I'm A Slut' From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 12 Mar 12 - 10:25 AM 1. It seems to me that those who wrote and spread the song are doing exactly what Rush Limbaugh wanted. He managed to focus everyone's attention on himself rather than on the rights of women. i.e., everyone's talking about how obnoxious he is instead of talking about women and their needs. Pretty clever for a bully, but i guess he's had years of practice. 1. Don't you think we ought to analyze the concept of 'slut' and see if it really makes sense? Because I don't think it does. 'Slut' implies that a woman is so promiscuous that she has no value. That's stupid. No matter how many lovers a woman takes, she's still a person with a mind, talents and responsibilities. I once took a class in how to deal with verbal aggression. One technique is to pretend to be totally baffled and say, "Slut? What do you mean by that? I don't understand. Would you please define that?" I believe it would have stymied Limbaugh. |

Subject: RE: Reformed Whores' song: 'I'm A Slut' From: Lonesome EJ Date: 12 Mar 12 - 11:20 AM Jed, Limbaugh's difference is that you can't find a republican to disagree with him. I certainly wouldn't agree with Sarah Palin being called a slut or any of the other demeaning terms cited in the article you link, by Bill Maher or anyone else. Therefore, one has to conclude that republicans agree with him, or are at least to fearful of him to disagree, wouldn't you say? There are two ways of looking at Ms Flukes comments: You either agree with her argument to fund birth control with health insurance dispersement or not. Calling her a "slut" is a mean and low-minded method of ending the argument. Personally, i think the examples and costs she mentioned to build her case were unusual, non-typical, and over the top, but Limbaugh, by focussing on personal attack, has effectively ended all rational discussion of her testimony. Do you agree with his tactic? |
